As the weather warms and spring gets closer, getting outside for some fresh air can be incredibly beneficial. While you’re in your yard, you might as well use this time to get some easy landscaping projects done.

1. Get Rid of Weeds

One of the easiest things you can do outside right now is to take care of any weeds that might be growing in your yard. With many plants just starting to come up, it’s not hard to tell which vegetation you want and which ones need to be removed. Not only will getting rid of weeds take up some of your time and get you some fresh air, but it will also make your landscaping look really good.

2. Pick Up Trash and Other Debris

After you have taken care of the weeds in your yard, you can then focus on trash and other debris that might have collected over the winter. This might include sticks and leaves that have fallen from the trees or other items that might have blown in during a storm.

Make sure to check in and under bushes and shrubs in your yard for trash and other debris, as well as under your deck or porch. Bring a trash bag or can with you to make picking up quick and easy.

3. Plant Bulbs and Seedlings

Since spring isn’t officially here, now is the best time to get bulbs into the ground. It’s also a good time to get your seedlings started so that they are ready to plant into the ground when the warm weather is here to stay.

If you’re worried that your seedlings might be exposed to some colder temperatures at night or that a freak storm might move through, you can always bring them into your home and place them in a sunny window or keep them in your garage. Either option should keep them alive, and this process will still give you a chance to get out of your house and enjoy some fresh air and sunshine.

4. Add Some Paint to Mailbox or Window Boxes

Another easy way to make your landscaping look good and add some color to your property is to add some paint to your mailbox or your window boxes. If you don’t have any window boxes, this is a great opportunity to add some.

You also have the ability to paint flower pots to add even more pizazz to your property. If you are feeling really ambitious, you might also consider changing the paint color of your wooden fence or add some stain. These are all simple ways that will make your yard look amazing.

5. Clean and Organize Your Tools

After you have used your gardening tools to get rid of weeds and plant bulbs and seedlings, you can then spend some time cleaning them and organizing them. Whether you store them in a garage or a shed, make sure each tool has a place and all dirt and grime have been removed from the surface. This will ensure that they last for as long as possible, as well as reduces the chances of corrosion.

While you are getting your tools organized, you might find that the rest of your storage shed or garage needs some attention. It may not pertain to landscaping directly, but having a clean garage or shed will make it easier for you to find the tools you are looking for. It also gives you a chance to get rid of items you no longer need. If you’re still looking for ways to stay outside and enjoy the weather while sheltering in place, you can always clean and organize your garage or storage shed.

Keep Yourself Busy

With so much uncertainty occurring in the world, one of the ways to stop from getting overly stressed or worried is to keep yourself busy. When you do easy tasks in your yard, not only are you getting fresh air and sunshine, but you are making your property look dazzling. That makes these projects worth the time and effort.
