(Newswire.net — July 27, 2015) Warrenton, VA — Select Business Network (SBN), a locally based group of business owners, presented House of Mercy with a donation check last week in an effort to give back to the Prince William County area community. The business group continues to collect canned goods to help support the charity’s food bank on a weekly basis. This is SBN’s pilot charitable endeavor, and it’s a practice the group hopes will grow in the future.

As SBN President Bob Oveissi notes, “House of Mercy is a wonderful entity in that it helps the local community in fighting hunger by offering free food and clothing for over 100 families per week.  They also offer educational services to improve a family’s situation . . . and they utilize volunteerism to give back to the community.  We’re proud to be a contributor to this worthwhile local non-profit!”

House of Mercy, based in Manassas, is currently headed by its Executive Director, Ann Cimini. Cimini has a diverse background that is useful to non-profits, including a long history as a project manager and writer. Under her guidance, the charitable organization has made a significant impact on the community with its food pantry, adult education, emergency assistance, and more. The good work performed by House of Mercy immediately drew SBN’s attention as John Baker of All Star HVAC and V.P. of SBN remembers: “After meeting with Ann it was easy to see that we as a group needed to help House of Mercy. This is the first of many causes that SBN will be supporting.”

SBN members had little difficulty in deciding on a charity most deserving of their support and are eager to continue giving back to the community and also House of Mercy. “I am very proud the Select Business Network is able to assist the House of Mercy’s mission of worldwide humanitarian assistance though their Passport to Hope,” says Steve Fahar of Molly Maids and Secretary of SBN. “In doing so – SBN has adopted and applied the House of Mercy’s motto of ‘Mercy is a verb’ in our personal and business lives.”
