(Newswire.net — October 31, 2016) Largo, Florida —Cary Frounfelter talks about his missionary experience in Jamaica and details how he helps patients with prosthetic and orthotic needs. A renowned prosthetist and orthotist, Cary began his professional career in Florida in 1994, and earned his license in 1998 after licensure in Orthotics and Prosthetics was passed in 1997. According to Cary, he started working in Jamaica in 2012 after non-profit organization ‘Mind, Body & Soul Ministry’ had approached him to assist in getting artificial limbs for Jamaican patients.

“As an amputee myself, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to help other amputees live a more comfortable life,” says Cary, who lost his right leg due to a vehicle accident in 1987.

Cary flew to Jamaica with the President and founding members of the organization, and took the measurements for the amputees. He then made casts and went back to the United States to have the prosthesis made. A month later, artificial limbs valued at around $70,000 were brought to Jamaica and were fitted by Cary himself.

Satisfied with the results, Cary decided to start a prosthetic clinic in Alexandria, Jamaica through Mind, Body & Soul Ministry. For the past four years, he has personally funded the prosthetic care for the clinic, and it has already provided over 150 prosthetic devices to amputee patients. Apart from his generous donations, he also provides prosthetic and physical therapy for gait training at the clinic.

Starting this prosthetic clinic in Jamaica has created a positive impact in the lives of Jamaican amputees. The clinic has appeared live on Jamaican TV several times, and records show that every Parrish except one in the Country of Jamaica has had at least one patient receive prosthesis care from Alexandria Health Care Clinic.

Cary’s mission in Jamaica did not stop there, however. Earlier this year, Mind, Body & Soul began talk with the Jamaican Government to cover the expenses of manufacturing the prosthetic devices of the Jamaican patients receiving prosthetic care at the Alexandria Health Care Clinic. The government and local hospitals sent representatives to the clinic in June, and both government employees and surgical staff saw the huge impact Cary has been making in the lives of Jamaican amputees.

Currently, Cary is preparing to return to Jamaica to fit 50 patients with their prosthetic devices. He is waiting on the authorization from the council to proceed with fabrication and delivery of the 50 prosthetic devices.
