Innovative Robotic Technology for Knee Replacement

This latest advancement in joint replacement surgery transforms the way total knee replacements are performed.

 The Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System uses a virtual 3D model to allow surgeons to create a personalized surgical plan for each patient before entering the operating room. The model is created with CT scans of the patient’s knee, which help identify the implant size, orientation and alignment based on each patient’s unique anatomy. In the operating room, the surgeon is able to make any necessary adjustments to the surgical plan to ensure optimal outcomes.  

 The Mako Total Knee application is a knee replacement treatment option designed to relieve the pain caused by joint degeneration due to osteoarthritis. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), nearly half of American adults develop knee osteoarthritis in at least one knee in their lifetime.
