The Journal of the American Geriatrics Society published a study. In this study, the researchers discovered that aerobic exercise may potentially be the best form of exercise in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease. This includes aerobic exercise like jogging or walking.

Scientists at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles conducted a review last year. They found that 1 in 3 cases of Alzheimer’s disease could be prevented through lifestyle changes.

It is further worth mentioning that this report also stressed the nine steps that could significantly reduce such a risk, and one is increasing physical activity.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends those aged 65 and above should engage in moderate-intensity aerobic exercise for 150 minutes a week. It could also be 75 weekly minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise as this can also keep dementia at bay.

They tried to see the cognitive benefits of exercise involving 19 studies that examined the effects of workout in at-risk seniors.

It has been found that in elderly adults, cognitive function was three times better in those who engage only in aerobic exercise. This was compared to seniors who performed a combination of aerobic exercise and muscle-strengthening exercises.
