(Newswire.net — September 22, 2020) Orlando, FL — Depression is undeniably one of the most prevalent brain health issues today. What makes it even more alarming is that it continues to cause premature deaths in older adults.

This is according to a study carried out by a research team to investigate how depression symptoms play a role in the increased risk of death over time.

It is also worth realizing that this team tried to assess the role of heart disease and stroke, and their association with depression symptoms and premature death.

This study was featured in the Journal of the American geriatrics Society.

It is also important to learn depression is also linked with deaths from cancer and falls in older adults. Experts warn the symptoms of depression can change over time.

This investigators of this study utilized data from the Three-City Study, which is a French study that investigated dementia, heart disease, and stroke in individuals aged 65 and older during five healthcare visits the participants made over 10 years.

Today, as the rate of depression continues to increase more and more researchers are looking into the ways to aid in reducing its prevalence. It is worth noting that there are evidence-based tricks found to be helpful in fighting depression.

Not many people are aware that some nutrients may work wonders in fighting depression. These include B vitamins, which have long been widely studied due to their therapeutic benefits.

According to Paul Anderson, ND, a professor of naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington, having an imbalance of the neurotransmitters of the brain is one of the culprits of mild depression.

It is worth realizing that neurotransmitters are called natural chemicals that serve as mood enhancers, and this is due to their ability to transmit signals between brain cells.

Experts strongly recommend increased intake of vitamin B6 and B3, which have been found to exert strong anti-depressant effects.

In a 2004 Danish study, the investigators had 140 subjects with clinical depression. It has been found the participants had reduced levels of vitamin B6 in their blood.

It is also recommended to consume more vitamin B12 and folic acid, which are found necessary in the synthesis of the brain neurotransmitters called norepinephrine and dopamine. This is helpful in warding off depression.

More studies are still being carried out to learn about the depression-fighting benefits of B vitamins further. However, their intake is highly recommended. Supplements like Purest Vantage B Vitamin Complex are highly recommended by experts.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6 (amazon.com/Vitamin-B-Complex-90-Capsules/dp/B0773N3MFK).
