(Newswire.net — February 23, 2017) — It is that time again – springtime. That means the 2017 spring makeup trends are heating up backstage. As with every year, there are some repeats and some good solid classics on the list. There are a few crazy additions that might be harder to implement off the runway. As with all makeup, pick one feature at a time to be the focal point of your face. This way your makeup looks more natural and on trend.
1. Bold Lips
This year, bold lips are stronger than ever. No color is off limits. Of course there is red, but purple, brown, burgundy and every shade of pink are showing up. Gray, orange and color-blocked lips made an appearance at the latest fashion shows. Matte finish is staying strong, but a good gloss with a hint of glitter has been spotted, too. Extra matte finishes are achieved with the help of additional powders. Powders used include eye shadow and other colored powders to enhance and manipulate the color, shades and intensity. Add shine with glitter and gloss.
When wearing a bold lip, keep the rest of the face simple. All the focus is going to be on your lips when you keep everything else simple.
2. Color-Blocking
Not only did we see a few color-blocked lips, but it showed up on the eyes and cheeks, too. Some years the colors might be out, but not this year. Embrace color and have fun with it. Unusual colors like yellow, blue, purple and green are all being used on eyes, cheeks and foreheads. Dimension adds to the eye with metallic sparkle and gloss. Feel free to create dramatic shapes or smudge the whole eye area.
When going for a bold eye, play down the lips with a nude or sheer tint. Keep the cheeks natural. It really accentuates the color around your eyes instead of having many different colors all over your face.
3. Bronzer
This is popular every year, and for good reason; everyone wants a healthy glow. This can be achieved with healthy skin and lots of moisturizer. Bronzer, highlighter and glitter are used on cheeks, nose and eyes. Many different products use natural applications, emulating fresh, young, sun-kissed skin. There were also silver, gold and pink highlights to take the look to the next level.
When replicating a summer glow, embrace your skin’s natural oils, add moisturizer and lightly touch up cheeks.
4. Smudged Eyes
As described above, eye shadow is anything but perfectly neat this year. Eyeliner and kohl are no exception. Brown, gray, black, navy and forest create an awesome smoky eye effect. Some eyeliner was traced inside the waterline for a subtle effect. On others, it traced the eye or fanned out. Regardless, the look was almost slept-in or next-day eye makeup. Deep, smoky shadow adds depth to the eye and an unmistakably sultry look.
If you do a smoky eye, it is best to play down the lips and cheeks. However, for an evening look, a bold lip can accompany a smoky eye.
5. Glitter
There is a lot of glitter this year, from extra-large pieces to shiny powder. Glitter is also being used in more unusual ways. A little dab on the lips and highlight on the eyebrows really brightens the face. The glitter is not only metallic, but it is also colorful.
When using glitter, be sure to keep it fun and bright. Start small and work your way up to avant-garde.
6. Blush
Blush in 2017 is bright and bold. Emphasize high cheekbones with more than an apple sized pop of color. Blushes range from pastel pink to candy red to bronze. A lot of the blush continues around the contour of the eyes and onto the temples. This creates a sun-kissed look as well as striking highlights.
Blush can easily go overboard, but that is ok this year!
7. Natural Look
Every spring and summer, the natural look is always popular. This look emphasizes healthy skin and natural beauty. Just because it looks easy doesn’t mean it is. It’s all about moisturizing, moisturizing, and more moisturizing!. Add a little lip gloss or a touch of color on the lips. Sweep a little bronzer over the cheeks and nose. Strong, full eyebrows complement this look perfectly.
The natural look is all about embracing your true beauty and keeping it light and airy. Always refrain from adding more, because with this look, less is more.
8. Peach
There are so many colors in 2017, however, the one that keeps popping up is peach. Peach can be used on all skin tones. There is a peach blush, lipstick and even eye shadow. It is bolder, yet somehow softer than pink. It can subtly be applied to cheeks and boldly on lips for a monochromatic, yet natural, look.
Peach is a great summer color to freshen up your look and keep the natural look. And besides, who wouldn’t want to wear such a fresh color during spring?
