(Newswire.net — February 20, 2017) Orlando, FL — While menstruation happens to almost all women regularly, it is important to remember that not all of them have the same experience during this time of the month. There are those who have light periods while others heavily bleed.

Experts reveal information that may help women who are suffering from heavy periods. A condition called menorrhagia is characterized by heavy monthly bleeding. For millions of women who suffer from this condition, life could be more challenging during periods.

There are those who spend several days every month having difficulties dealing with their routine activities due to heavy menstrual flow. These activities include playing sports, running errands, or even working.

“The condition may also make sufferers susceptible to fatigue and anemia,” said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O’Sullivan.

According to the latest survey conducted by Mom Central and Healthy Women, almost 40% of women with heavy bleeding say they feel they are caught in between suffering from the condition and settling for certain treatment options that they find to be unacceptable.

The same survey also revealed that heavy monthly bleeding may significantly influence the emotions of women. It is estimated that 92% of women reveal the condition frustrates them and 68% say it controls them.

Nearly half of the population of women who suffer from the condition reveal that they need to change their pads or tampons around seven to nine times per day.

It has not been known yet what exactly causes heavy monthly bleeding. However, it is believed to be caused by hormonal imbalance, uterine fibroids, and underlying bleeding disorders.

Treatments such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used by women who suffer from this condition. However, it is important to note that these medications may cause adverse effects, especially when used frequently or on a long-term basis.

There are other options women can resort to and this includes natural alternatives such as turmeric. Turmeric has long been believed to be beneficial for the female reproduction system.

During periods, turmeric is thought to have the ability to reduce the pain and intensity experienced during menstruation. Due to its unique ingredients, such as its potential anti-inflammatory properties, it is widely believed to be as effective as NSAIDs, which are often the first treatment option for sufferers of heavy bleeding.

A majority of the potential benefits of turmeric are thought to come from its phytochemical called curcumin, which is a bioactive ingredient.
