(Newswire.net — August 17, 2022) Orlando, FL — Over the years of research, scientists have been able to identify some helpful tricks for lung health. It is also worth noting that some studies have highlighted the threats to the performance and health of the lungs.
A study was carried out and published online in the American Thoracic Society’s American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
The findings have shown that women who clean at work or at home are at more risk of increased lung function decline.
The researchers have particularly revealed that women female cleaners or women who regularly use cleaning sprays as well as other cleaning products at home, seem to have a greater decline in lung function over time than those who did not clean.
This study is called “Cleaning at Home and at Work in Relation to Lung Function Decline and Airway Obstruction.”
It was carried out by researchers at the University of Bergen in Norway.
For this study, the researchers analyzed data from 6,235 participants in the European Community Respiratory Health Survey. It is worth noting that the subjects had an average age of 34 when they enrolled, and they were also followed for more than 20 years.
According to senior study author Cecile Svanes, MD, Ph.D., while the short-term effects of cleaning chemicals on asthma are becoming increasingly well documented, we lack knowledge of the long-term impact.
Svanes is a professor at the university’s Centre for International Health.
“We feared that such chemicals, by steadily causing a little damage to the airways day after day, year after year, might accelerate the rate of lung function decline that occurs with age,” she adds.
The researchers revealed that there was a decline in forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) declined by 3.6 milliliters (ml)/year faster. This was observed in women who cleaned at home. In women who worked as cleaners, 3.9 ml/year faster was observed.
It is worth noting that FEV1 pertains to the amount of air a person can forcibly exhale in one second.
Health experts have long been recommending resorting to proven measures in protecting the lungs. It is important to keep in mind that aside from avoiding hazardous ingredients for respiratory health such as cleaning products, it is also vital to follow some dietary and lifestyle lung health techniques.
There are even formulas like Divine Bounty Curcumin that may be helpful in enhancing lung health and protection. Various studies suggest that curcumin has therapeutic agents that work wonders in improving respiratory health.
This phytochemical may even be helpful in boosting the body’s defenses (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-BioPerine-Pepper-Extract/dp/B00VSVKJ8I).
