(Newswire.net — January 11, 2016) — London, UK – Only two days after he had released a new album and celebrated his 69th birthday, David Bowie died of cancer he had battled for 18 months.
Iconic and innovative rock star died peacefully on 10 January, surrounded by his family, as posted on Bowie’s Facebook. “While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief,” post reads.
In almost 50 years long career, the artist had numerous style transitions from rock to electronic music.

Bowie experimented with various music styles, featured in several movies, but his fan base only grew larger. Before he died, he managed to finish his last album.
His carrier started in 1969 with Space Oddity, but rocketed to the stars in 1972, with The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Mixing Brit-pop and rock into rock symphony he immediately reached stars and remained there for more than four decades.
His latest album, Blackstar – The Times of London Reports, was released on his birthday 8 January. The LP has 7 songs, recorded at the Magic Shop studio in New York, with local jazz musicians.
The Blackstar’s 10-minute title track, has been recently excerpted as the theme tune for the Sky Atlantic heist series The Last Panthers.

Almost 83,000 heavy metal fans have signed a petition calling for one of four newly discovered elements to be named “Lemmium”.
