(NEW YORK) April 15th award-winning science writer Seymour Simon will re-launch his popular website SeymourSimon.com with a new, more streamlined look, sophisticated yet kid-friendly navigation, and an enviable amount of content that his readers come to trust from the man whom the New York Times dubbed “the Dean of the [children’s science book] field.”

Whether a student, parent or educator is looking to learn, explore or better understand the natural sciences, space, animals, or the human body, SeymourSimon.com will serve as a “go to” destination on the web. The site is designed as a safe site for children under age thirteen, following COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act of 1998) guidelines.

“SeymourSimon.com draws on my life’s work as both a teacher and children’s science writer,” says Simon. “The scientific facts may change, but if we can instill children with an enthusiasm for exploring the world, that value will remain with them the rest of their lives.”

Among the new additions and upgrades to SeymourSimon.com, which is available to all as a free website:

  • Full-color images from all his most popular books, with links to “Look Inside” as well as links to both U.S. and Canadian online retailers.
  • The SEYMOUR SIMON CHILDREN’S SCIENCE DICTIONARY, with more than 2000 entries, for use as a homework helper.
  • The popular SEYMOUR SCIENCE BLOG is now integrated into the SeymourSimon.com website. Seymour Simon is a classic “lifelong learner,” and his interests and natural curiosity come to life in the Seymour Science blog.
  • A robust ABOUT SEYMOUR section to help kids with their book reports. The section includes Simon’s bio, an interview, a new video interview, and an “Ask Seymour” email template. For adults, the section includes a form to request a School Visit or Classroom Skype Session.
  • An Educators’ Only section which will offer free, downloadable Discussion Guides and Project Ideas related to his books; Recommended Links to additional online science resources; and an Upload feature to share classroom photos and videos.
  • A casual online videogame called NANNY IN SPACE! Free, safe kid registration will enable players to keep track of their high scores, try to reach higher levels, and see where they appear in relation to other (anonymous) kids on the High Score Table.

SeymourSimon.com was designed by Ripe Media, a full-service creative firm based in Los Angeles, and produced by veteran children’s media executive Liz Nealon.
