(Newswire.net — April 14, 2014) Castle Rock, Colorado — Each Spring the Douglas County Educational Foundation, in connection with the Douglas County School District, sponsors Career Connect, a  career exploration program.  Career Connect is an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience that will help to give students an in-depth understanding of what is expected of them to become successful in their career field. Students participating in Career Connect will learn detailed information about a specific industry that interests them, and what steps they need to take in their academic careers to prepare for their professional career of choice.

In order to help students explore all fields that interest them, the program has made a slight change from previous semesters. Students are no longer required to sign up for all four weeks of the sessions.  Students are able to attend as many sessions as they want, based on their interest and availability. Those interested are encouraged to only register for the sessions your schedule will allow you to attend. This career exploration program will host over 30 sessions this spring, allowing students to explore a wide variety of professional career fields. Aviation, dentistry, energy, information technology, and military are just a sample of the fields currently being offered to students.

Local dental office Castle Rock Family Dental, along with Dr. Scott Brody, DDS, is participating in Career Connect. They offer a dental assisting program in their office — Dental Assisting School of the Rockies, where they teach young people how to become a dental assistant and enter the dental fields. The partnership with Castle Rock Family Dental will allow students interested in the dental field to come into their office for a few hours. During their time, they will learn about careers in dentistry, gain exposure, ask questions and learn what a typical day is for a dental assistant. This will be a great hands-on experience for students to better understand what steps they need to take to make a career in the dental field. Career Connect will be held at Castle Rock Family Dental at 1025 S. Perry Street, Suite 105 in Castle Rock, Colorado this Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

Career Connect is a fantastic way for students to gain hands-on experience alongside experienced industry professionals, as well as a great way for students to connect what they are doing in the classroom to their future career. Castle Rock Family Dental is excited about the opportunity to provide insight into dental careers. Registration will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis. For more information or questions about Career Connect contact coordinator Krista Zizzo at 303-387-0500.
