Gary Douglas Consciousness versus Spirituality

(Newswire.net — January 29, 2015)  — According to Gary Douglas, while both consciousness and spirituality imply a higher awareness, one focuses on the tangible and the other on the intangible. “Spirituality” refers to the spirit and the soul in the context of religion. It counts the spirit and soul as the greater part of a person and the most valuable to nurture and grow. The goal in spirituality is to prepare that soul or spirit for what comes after death. That could be heaven, hell, a higher dimension, the next plane of existence, whatever you happen to believe in. It counts on faith and belief in something other than yourself to help attain that achievement.

“Consciousness” is now. It is tangible. It is the body and mind being aware of the present, being in the moment, and to take in all that is around you. What to do with everything assimilated in the moment is up to the individual. There is no right or wrong, good or bad, just….there. Life is a series of singular moments interacting with the energy of singular beings. There is a oneness while still being included in everything that is in the universe. The goal is not to assimilate the judgment, just the possibilities, and the energies that go with those.

As individuals, our awareness is only limited by our willingness to take things in and accept them for what they are. The consciousness that goes with that allows us to choose, and in the choice is the creation of reality.

Consciousness recognizes that as a being, you are infinite energy and space. Within you is a knowing in which to trust. That knowing is based on the perceiving and knowing, the being and receiving, that comes with being aware and conscious in this moment, at this time, with no predetermined conclusion.

Gary Douglas, the founder of Access Consciousness, calls this glory. Glory in spirituality is the spirit and soul in perpetual joy provided by a deity because you played by their rules. Glory in consciousness is that you can get those same things, in this reality, and you give them to yourself. Glory in consciousness is the exuberant expression and abundance of living in the now. What does that mean? You receive all that this life has to offer, as it is – the good, the bad and the ugly would come to you with ease and joy and glory.
