(Newswire.net — March 27, 2015)  — The world tensions become more bizarre every day. Now Chechnya has threatened to send military gear, weapons and ammunition to Mexico, if US president Obama keeps pushing US weapons to Ukraine. Yes, the same Chechens who not so long ago were fighting against Russians – actually they fought each other for centuries – are actually fighting on the same side with pro-Russian Ukraine rebels against pro-US Kiev’s troops.

The US Congress passed on Tuesday the resolution to send weapons and other military aid to Ukraine. The resolution was passed 348 to 48.

In response, Chechnian parliament expressed a ‘higher tone’ towards the US plan, which sounded more like ‘The enemy of my enemy is my enemy’, twisted version of an old saying. According to the Newsweek, Chechnya’s parliamentary speaker Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov said that the US has “no right” to advise Russia on how to behave with its neighbors.

To demonstrate he ‘means business,’ Abdurakhmanov warned that the supply of arms to Ukraine will be perceived by Chechnya, a southern Russian republic, as a signal to deliver new weapons to Mexico to “resume the debate on the legal status of the territories annexed by the US,” Newsweek reported.

According to the paper, Abdurakhmanov is referring to the states of California, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming, which the US gained control of, after the 1848 peace deal that concluded the Mexican-American conflict.

“We reserve the right to conduct conferences in Russia, Mexico and the US to raise the question of breaking away the above mentioned states from the U.S. and supplying weapons to resistance fighters there,” Adurakhmanov said.

The head of Russian State Parliament Alexey Pushkov urged Obama on Tuesday, to not give under pressure of by the Republican controlled US Senate, which voted in favor of arming Ukraine.

Pushkov added that by voting for sending weapons to the Ukraine, the US “sends a strong signal of America’s long-term support in its policy of confrontation with Russia”.

Previous calls to arm Ukraine have been rejected by the Obama administration, which fears the move could instigate greater bloodshed between Ukrainian forces and the separatists, Newsweek reported.
