(Newswire.net — April 24, 2015) — THOMSON, Illinois — Heirloom Audio Productions, the nation’s leading producer of audio adventures, is giving away a trip for two to Scotland valued at $10,000 as part of a contest commemorating the company’s most recent audio release, In Freedom’s Cause, which is set in Scotland.
In addition to the grand prize trip to Scotland, giveaways also will include two (2) first-place prizes of $500, three (3) second-place prizes of special edition iPad Minis, and ten (10) third-place prizes of all three of Heirloom Audio’s CD adventures. There will also be a $500 “Viewer’s Choice” award up for grabs – determined by online voting on the videos.
Contestants can enter the contest at InFreedomsCauseTour.com.
The deadline for entries is Aug. 7. The tour, which is co-hosted with Landmark Events, will take place in September.
Christian historian Bill Potter, film producer Colin Gunn and local experts will lead the tour of the verdant Scottish countryside, following in the footsteps of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce, to view the battlefields, castles and memorials made famous by the movie Braveheart.
The adventures of Wallace and Bruce were the focus of the two-CD set In Freedom’s Cause, an action-packed family-friendly adventure that follows the exploits of the two men as they fight to free Scotland from English tyranny.
“Scotland is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited,” said Heirloom Audio founder and producer Bill Heid, who traveled to Scotland last summer while preparing to record In Freedom’s Cause. “It’s a place, because of its rich history, that you’ll never forget.”
Heid founded Heirloom Audio Productions in 2013 to produce family-friendly audio theater projects that “put God back into history” by featuring history’s Christian heroes – but whose faith is often scrubbed from the public school textbooks. They feature frontline actors and actresses, state of the art sound design, and an original soundtrack.
The group will visit:
- William Wallace Monument – a stone tower where the group can gaze over the city of Stirling and the winding river where Wallace’s army routed the English army in the battle of Stirling Bridge.
- Caerlaverock Castle — a beautiful medieval castle that was besieged and sacked, never to be rebuilt.
- Sweetheart Abbey — a Cistercian monastery founded in the 13th century and named after John Balliol, whose son of the same name became King of Scotland.
- St. Giles Cathedral – the principal place of worship of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. John Knox preached at St. Giles
- Edinburgh Castle — a historic fortress that dominates the skyline of the city of Edinburgh, it’s the premier castle of Scotland.
- St. Andrews – this region includes St Andrews Castle, the gravesite of Rev. Samuel Rutherford, the Cathedral ruins, and the monuments to the martyrs Patrick Hamilton and George Wishart.
In Freedom’s Cause stars Golden Globe winner Joanne Froggatt (Anna Bates of Downton Abbey), Billy Boyd (Pippin of The Lord Of The Rings), Skandar Keynes (Edmund of The Chronicles of Narnia series), James Cosmo (Campbell, Father Christmas of Braveheart and The Chronicles of Narnia, respectively) and Brian Blessed (Boss Nass and Clayton in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and Tarzan, respectively).
“We took the crew to walk where William Wallace walked and to the castles, to capture all of the sounds that were there,” Heid said of his 2014 visit. “So if you actually listened to In Freedom’s Cause and heard a door open and close, that’s probably the real door in the real castle where that scene actually took place in the late 13th century. We’ve tried to capture the accuracy not only in the story but also in the sounds as well.”
Heirloom Audio’s third project, With Lee In Virginia, is scheduled to be released this summer and will feature Academy Award nominee Sean Astin (Rudy, The Lord Of The Rings, The Goonies), Kirk Cameron (Monumental, Fireproof), Chris Anthony (Adventures In Odyssey) and Kelsey Landsdowne (Curious George film).
The company’s first project, Under Drake’s Flag, was nominated for two Audie Awards (best audio drama and best package design). The Audies are the “Academy Awards of audio.”
