(Newswire.net — May 19, 2015) San Diego, , CA. — San Francisco is now the third city to welcome ArtPin’s unique approach to the artist community, adding alternative spaces and uniue pop-up art shows to the city’s existing museums and galleries.

“ArtPin is a much needed guide for the Bay Area. Its accessible platform presents contemporary art events in a comprehensive and inviting way.” said Alina Richards of Scott Richards Contemporary Art, a gallery located in the prestigious Art Galleries Building in San Francisco’s Union Square.

With the majority of San Francisco’s tight knit galleries situated near each other, the community of artists and aficionados alike are excited to strengthen the arts in San Francisco by expanding exposure.

Currently 93 galleries strong, ArtPin is in the process of adding more show listings every day in San Francisco. The startup’s co-founders Alex Dikowski and Jessie Hale enjoy working with traditional galleries and museums, and they say that they have plans to make the ArtPin Connect platform reach further in the future.

Jessica Ross, assistant gallery director at Spoke Art Gallery, said, “Spoke Art is excited to be a part of an interactive and comprehensive application that will link locals and art lovers for events all over San Francisco. A long over-due platform for such an innovative and creative city, ArtPin will hopefully invigorate local galleries and foster a sustainable community for years to come.”

The ArtPin platform is significantly different than other websites that list local events and entertainment such as concerts, films, and theater, in that it focuses solely on fine art shows. While the site does not yet have a mobile app, it is fully accessible by any mobile device and is- by design- mostly media based. Said Dikowski, “Most sites that list art shows are text based- you’re lucky if you get more than one preview image. We take a visual approach that allows people to find the shows that most interest them”.

Quickly becoming the go-to site for art lovers, students, artists and collectors in southern California, ArtPin is a great way to discover new talent by browsing artist profiles. Visitors can also search for exhibits or events by location, date, and even the types of art they prefer. Finally, the application’s “check in” feature allows Artpin members to check in either real-time from a smart device, or later from home, and users are able to keep a running journal of dates, shows, and their thoughts about the art.

Three cities down, but with many more to come, San Francisco is just the newest realization of the dream that Dikowski and Hale share; that is, to make art more accessible and create a more connected community across the nation.
