(Newswire.net — November 14, 2017) Bend, Oregon — The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) recently elected Dr. Scott Jacobson to be a member of the society. The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) is a society made up of leading national and international orthopedic surgeons who specialize in surgery of the shoulder and elbow. The membership, which is by invitation only, currently consists of 737 members.
Dr. Jacobson is one of the region’s most sought-after shoulder surgeons. Fellowship trained in orthopedic sports medicine, he has been treating patients for over two decades. He is involved in numerous research projects to develop improved shoulder arthroplasty products and improve outcomes for his patients. He was the principal investigator for the FDA clinical trial for a new shoulder arthroplasty system, Simpliciti, which became available in the U.S. in 2015. He is currently involved in developing a national shoulder arthroplasty database, as well as research to design and manufacture improved shoulder arthroplasty and trauma implants.
“It’s a privilege and an honor to be elected into this prestigious society,” said Dr. Jacobson. “I look forward to working alongside an esteemed group of colleagues to help me gain perspective on the research I am doing, and ultimately improve shoulder arthroplasty technology and techniques for my patients.”
Dr. Jacobson attended the annual meeting held in New Orleans, LA in October, where he was formally welcomed by the society and attended the educational meetings and workshops. The meeting is closed to non-members. As part of his membership, he was invited to serve as an article reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
