(Newswire.net — May 14, 2020) — Isn’t it confusing to choose a dress before going to a photoshoot? You scour through your wardrobe trying to pick out your favorite attire, but then realize it won’t suit the theme of your photo session. With no time left, you end up wearing the dress that you like the most because it not only fits you well, but you also feel most comfortable in it. You don’t consider whether it would suit the theme of the photoshoot or not. That’s the mantra Pedro Oliveira believes in.
Pedro is an award-winning photographer, known for his world-famous social projects like “Careful: Soul Inside” and “Beyond the 60th Sense.” In addition to following his passion for capturing portraits of people facing homelessness and fierce women over their 60s, Pedro also has a studio where he takes editorial portraits and produces his advertising projects. Although his photography career has only crossed five years, he has already touched the lives of thousands with his portraits. Pedro states that his opinion is that, in general, women should wear whatever they are comfortable with during photoshoots and that should be enough for amazing images.
Selecting clothes for photo-sessions
Pedro’s clients often ask him what they should wear for their photoshoot. He has one answer for everyone, “Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and happy.” Pedro believes that the location of the shoot and what you are wearing doesn’t matter much as long as you feel comfortable with your wardrobe. “No matter if you will have your photos taken at a studio, in one of the breathtaking sights in Portland, or on the beaches of Orange County, as long as you’re comfortable and enjoying yourself, that will translate into amazing pictures,” Oliveira says.
Pedro explains that although photo-sessions are super-fun, they can also make clients break a sweat. That’s why he has standing instructions for everyone: if you want to make the photo-session memorable, wear anything that makes you feel comfortable.
Does that mean Pedro doesn’t have any preference for any type of outfit? No, that’s not the case. He loves patterns and fancy dresses. Pedro even has a few tips for women on what outfits to choose for photoshoots.
1. In studi, dark clothes tend to blend bodies with the background. If you want to submit your headshots to a modeling agency, you should wear dark clothes.
2. Bright colors tend to steal the focus from your face even if you go on an outdoor photoshoot. Pedro advises clients to select dresses with patterns or textures so that the colors can easily mingle with the background while bringing back the attention to you. Suppose you want to do a photoshoot in front of a lush green hill. You shouldn’t choose bright red as your outfit as all the focus would go to your dress and not your face. Toning down bright colors will do the trick here. Choose from pale blue or pale yellow for outdoor shoots so that the colors don’t pop up in front of the background. Of course, these are just examples and vary depending on the background.
3. Lastly, wear light clothes so that you feel comfortable. You wouldn’t want to touch-up on your makeup frequently because of the sweat dripping from your forehead, unless, of course it’s winter time!
Now that you know the tricks from Pedro for choosing outfits for a photo session, you don’t need to try out every dress in your wardrobe. Just pick the one that makes you feel comfortable and head for your amazing session.
