(Newswire.net — June 3, 2020) Winnetka, IL — There is an overwhelming number of studies looking into the potential cures for diabetes. Aside from being incurable, experts try to explore more of this disease due to its high prevalence.

In 2014, statistics show that approximately 422 million individuals had diabetes. In 2016, it resulted in an estimated number of 1.6 million deaths.

The prevalence of this ailment continues to alarm more and more experts. It is worth mentioning that nearly half of all deaths were attributable to high blood glucose occurring before the age of 70.

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) even reveals that 30.3 million adults in the U.S. live with diabetes.

Scientists carried out a study revealing that cheese has shown its ability to improve insulin sensitivity in prediabetic rats.

It is important to note that in cases of type 2 diabetes, the body is unable to use insulin properly in absorbing sugar from the blood into cells. It is worth realizing that cheese is often loaded with fat and salt, and it is a contentious subject when it comes to diabetes and health in general.

The study was funded by the Dairy Farmers of Canada. It was spearheaded by Catherine Chan — a professor in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada — and her collaborators .

They looked into the manner that prediabetic rats fared on a diet of regular cheese compared with low-fat cheese.

According to Chan, the cheese didn’t totally normalize the effects of insulin, but it significantly improved them. And it didn’t matter whether it was low-fat or regular cheese.

There is a growing number of studies showing that some plant-based compounds may aid in battling diabetes. More particularly, these therapeutic ingredients help in the prevention or management of the condition.

Herbs like ashwagandha have been scientifically found to aid in battling diabetes due to its ability to reduce blood sugar levels.

Scientists carried out a test-tube study finding that its use led to an increase in insulin secretion. What makes it all the more beneficial is that it also enhanced insulin sensitivity in muscle cells. Some studies involving humans have shown that this natural remedy has also successfully decreased blood sugar levels in both healthy people and those with diabetes.

The scientific community continues to investigate the diabetes-fighting benefits of this Ayurvedic herb. It is also worth noting that its use is widespread nowadays, especially via supplementation.

One of the supplements that are gaining increasing popularity today is NutraHerbals Ashwagandha (amazon.com/organic-ashwagandha-root-powder/dp/B01GZALWGO).
