New Study Shows Excess Weight And Body Fat Trigger Cardiovascular Disease

(Newswire.net — April 21, 2021) Orlando, FL — Today, an increasing number of research studies stress the relevance of taking some measures to protect the heart. One of the contributing factors that experts widely study is weight, especially being obese or overweight.

A study was published in the European Heart Journal.

In this research, it has been found that increases in body mass index (BMI) and fat mass also lead to the increase in the risk of aortic valve stenosis. It is worth mentioning this is a condition whereby the valve that controls the flow of blood from the heart to the body’s largest blood vessel, the aorta, narrows and fails to open fully.

The study was spearheaded by Susanna Larsson, associate professor and senior researcher at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.

The investigating team used Mendelian randomization, which is a way of demonstrating whether or not individual risk factors actually trigger disease, rather than just being linked with it.

It also uses certain genetic variants that are already identified to be associated with the potential risk factors as indirect indicators for these risk factors, such as body fat and BMI. This allows researchers to learn whether the risk factor is the underlying cause of the disease instead of the other way around.

This research involved 96 genetic variants linked with BMI and body fat mass for the purpose of estimating their impact on 14 cardiovascular diseases in 367,703 participants of white-British descent in UK Biobank.

The UK Biobank is a UK-based national and international resource containing data on 500,000 people, aged 40-69 years.

There are many studies revealing the various aspects of cardiovascular health. It is worth noting that some scientists have shown diet plays a significant role in taking better care of the heart.

According to experts, diet has an indirect and direct effect on heart health. Scientists have long warned that poor diets, which are loaded with fat and cholesterol, can result in obesity.

In various research studies, obesity has been found to significantly increase heart disease risk.

Gut health is particularly associated with the cardiac system. More specifically, the gut takes care of the body’s ability to acquire and benefit from nutrients. It has molecular filters that are needed for nutrient uptake.

These are filters that also work in preventing toxic substances from reaching critical organs. All of these factors help in ensuring the heart is well-guarded.

It is similarly worth mentioning that probiotics are vital for gut health. These beneficial bacteria ensure the digestive system is protected and healthy, and this means they also indirectly benefit the heart.

It is worth mentioning that probiotic use has also been associated with a myriad of healing effects. Supplements like Divine Bounty Digestive Enzymes may be a useful source of these beneficial bacteria.

Divine Bounty Digestive Enzymes contain 500 mg of digestive enzymes, namely lipase, amylase, invertase, Glucoamylase, papain, and bromelain. It even has prebiotics, and probiotics.
