Researchers Warn Osteoporosis May Increase Vertigo Risk

(Newswire.net — February 25, 2022) Orlando, FL — Bone health issues like osteoporosis continue to affect more and more people around the globe today. It is worth realizing that this condition has also been found to trigger some other conditions.

Korean researchers suggest that osteoporosis sufferers are much more likely to have vertigo than people with normal bone density.

It is worth realizing that this inner ear disorder called vertigo is a common cause of dizziness. It is thought to be due to loose calcium carbonate crystals in the sensing tubes of the inner ear.

In this study, the investigators compared 209 people with benign positional vertigo with no known causes with 202 people with no history of dizziness. It is worth mentioning these causes include ear surgery or head trauma.

It has been found that individuals with osteoporosis had a likelihood of vertigo by three times. Further, individuals with osteopenia were twice more prone to vertigo.

The study will be published in the March 24 issue of Neurology.

According to Dr. Ji Soo Kim, these findings suggest a problem with calcium metabolism in people with vertigo.

Dr. Kim is from the Seoul National University College of Medicine.

In women, it has been found 25 percent of those suffering from vertigo had osteoporosis.

Today, more and more experts are looking into the best possible ways to help people improve their bone health. It is worth realizing that in addition to following a healthy diet and lifestyle, scientific evidence also points to the use of certain antioxidants like resveratrol.

Studies have shown that this powerful antioxidant could work wonders in protecting and enhancing bone health.

It is important to note that due to the aging process, there is often a loss in the delicate balance between bone formation and reabsorption. The good news is that this polyphenol called resveratrol has long been found to work wonders in fighting the signs of aging.

More particularly, it aids in significantly increasing the plasma levels of bone-specific alkaline phosphatase, which is considered to be an essential biomarker of bone formation.

Some experts suggest that resveratrol’s ability to enhance bone health may be potentially due to the increase in the number and activity of the osteoblasts (bone-forming cells).

While more studies are still being carried out to explore the therapeutic goodness of resveratrol deeper, it is worth noting that its use is undeniably widespread nowadays.

There are supplements like Purest Vantage Resveratrol found to work wonders in delivering its healing benefits (amazon.com/Resveratrol-Supplement-Trans-Resveratrol-Additional-Polyphenol/dp/B01N3LZY3O).
