More Studies Warn Excessive Ultra-Processed Food Harms the Heart

(Newswire.net — April 20, 2022) Orlando, FL — Over the years, researchers have been carrying out studies to look into the effects of food on the various aspects of health. It has long been established that processed foods are some of the unhealthiest items to avoid in the grocery store.

Preliminary research warns that excessive intake of ultra-processed food is associated with reduced heart health. It is worth noting that ultra-processed foods account for more than half of an average American’s daily calories.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) researchers have discovered that for every 5 percent increase in calories from ultra-processed foods a person ate, there was a corresponding reduction in overall cardiovascular health.

Adults who consume roughly 70 percent of their calories from ultra-processed foods were found to be half as likely to have “ideal” cardiovascular health than people who ate 40 percent or less of their calories from ultra-processed foods.

It is worth noting that ideal cardiovascular health is based on the definition of the American Heart Associations’ Life’s Simple 7.

In this research, foods were categorized into groups by the extent and purpose of the industrial process they went through. Experts warn that processed foods are made entirely or mostly from substances extracted from foods, such as starches, fats, hydrogenated fats, added sugar, modified starch, and other compounds.

It is further worth being warned that can include some cosmetic additives, such as artificial flavors, colors, or emulsifiers. Some examples of ultra-processed foods are cookies, packaged salty snacks, soft drinks, processed meats, chicken nuggets, and powdered and packaged instant soups.

“Healthy diets play an important role in maintaining a healthy heart and blood vessels,” said Zefeng Zhang, M.D., Ph.D., an epidemiologist at the CDC.

“Eating ultra-processed foods often displaces healthier foods that are rich in nutrients, like fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein, which are strongly linked to good heart health. In addition, ultra-processed foods are often high in salt, added sugars, saturated fat, and other substances associated with increasing the risk of heart disease.”

There are many unhealthy substances in ultra-processed foods and these include toxins, which can also be found pretty much everywhere. It is important to note that aside from reducing or avoiding intake of these foods, it is also recommended to detoxify the body.

Doing this would be helpful in getting rid of toxins that could otherwise trigger the onset of various diseases. There are helpful formulas available, such as Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071NZ5G57).
