(Newswire.net — October 5, 2022) Orlando, FL — Researchers have long been carrying out studies to look into the various aspects of stress, especially its undesirable health outcomes. It has been found it could also result in Facebook addiction.

This is according to a study published in the psychiatric Research journal.

In this study, it has been found that social media friends like those on Facebook can be an excellent source of comfort during stressful periods. However, it has also been found not getting any support offline leads to stressed users being at risk of having a pathological dependence on the social networking site — the so-called Facebook addiction.

This research was carried out by a team of the Mental Health Research and Treatment Center at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB), headed by Dr. Julia Brailovskaia.

For this research, the investigators assessed the results from an online survey taken by 309 Facebook users between the ages of 18 and 56.

“We have specifically invited students to participate in the survey, as they often experience a high level of stress for a number of reasons,” explains Julia Brailovskaia.

The questions of the investigators aided in deducing stress levels as well as how much support the subjects received offline and online. Moreover, the users were also asked about the duration of time they spend on Facebook on a daily basis and their feelings if they cant be online.

“Our findings have shown that there is a positive relationship between the severity of daily stress, the intensity of Facebook engagement, and the tendency to develop a pathological addiction to the social networking site,” concludes Julia Brailovskaia.

Over the years, researchers have been stressing the relevance of taking some proven measures in reducing stress levels. There are many stress-busting techniques, such as engaging in yoga, sleeping adequately, and following a healthy diet.

It is vital to consume foods with nutrients found to be particularly helpful in fighting stress. These include Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex, which has Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6.
