Everything from accountancy to legal professions are being automated and for anyone involved with these sectors its frightening to think how far this has come. Everyone from criminal defense lawyers to admin staff could see their careers changed by the introduced of automated processes.
- Faster Fast Food: Fast food companies don’t want to pay a living wage, no matter how much customers and unions argue that they should. The profit margins are slight, because those same customers want cheap food and to make cheap food, you need cheap employees. As a result, a lot of money is being spent on automating this process. In Japan there are already robot servers that remove the need for human employees, and while this are primitive right now, it could be a matter of a few years before they get to the point where robots will be sourcing, prepping, cooking and then serving our food.
- Electric Cars: This is something we have had for some time, but something that has yet to truly take off. To date you have needed a lot of money to buy and run an electric car, and it hasn’t been very convenient. But that’s changing. All major manufacturers are getting onboard and if things continue as they have been going then we could all be driving electric or hybrid cars by 2020. In fact, if the self-driving tech is anything to go by then we might not need to drive them at all.
- Internet of Things: The IoT is one of the most exciting technologies out there right now. It has already made the world of advertising a lot of interesting and the potential it has for customer interaction, health and more will make this one of the technologies to watch in the near future. The IoT, as the name suggests, is basically a way of connecing everything to a global system, a way of making everything from clothes to product labels interactive and responsive. It is as every bit amazing as it sounds.
