Scott Tucker Organizes Community Food Drive

(Newswire.net — December 18, 2014)  — Scott Tucker has announced his plans for another food and clothing drive. He has enlisted several other businesses this time around, attempting to better his success of last year. All donations will go to several local homeless shelters.

“Last year was the first time I did this,” says Tucker. “It turned out very successful, but it was a lot of work. Fortunately this year I can avoid a lot of the mistakes as well as getting some more help from a few business partners. If the turnout is anything like last year, we will still have our hands full.”

Tucker has remained in contact with all the local homeless shelters, keeping an up-to-date list of most needed items. He has kept the community informed of all changes and project updates by a monthly email and newsletter.

“We can only hope he continues the way he is,” says Georgia Miller manager of the First Unitarian Shelter. “Last year he helped supply about a third of our food and clothing needs for the first quarter and that is a huge deal in this line of work.”

With the expected high rate of participation, Tucker and his team have added more food and clothing drop locations around the community, including one at all participating businesses. He also said schedules have already been made for pick ups and distribution to avoid any overflow.

Any non-perishable food items and clean, lightly used clothing will be accepted at all drop locations and participating businesses. More information about drop locations, accepted items, and how to volunteer is available at Tucker’s Tailor Shop.
