In a recent story published on their website, AMG Services Vanadium announced $1000 donations to the math and science departments of four local high schools. AMG’s dedication to service, community and education is continued in 2013 with their ninth consecutive annual donation to Cambridge, Ohio schools. Math and science education are crucial for communities in the United States that want to competitive and retain profitable companies, and the learning experiences and classroom materials made possible by AMG’s donations will help public schools in Cambridge work towards that goal.

A comment on the donations was provided by Hoy E. Frakes Jr., the president of AMG, “The education of our youth, particularly in the math and science fields, is critically important not only to us now, but also as we look to the future… it’s important for our employees to possess basic math skills, as well as higher level analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills”. Frakes emphasized the quality math and science education provide skills that are “essential for us to remain competitive in a global marketplace”.

AMG also works in other ways to support math and science education in it’s community. The company offers internships to local students, gives financial support to local colleges, and provides tours of it’s plant and facilities on a regular basis. On a global scale, the United States is in danger of falling behind in science, technology, engineering and math education. In the eyes of AMG representatives, companies inside the United States will struggle to compete globally if they do not step up to help American students and support education in their communities.

AMG creates specialty purpose metals by converting waste products from oil refineries and power plants. These products not only benefit steel producers around the globe working for the construction, energy and automotive fields, they are also beneficial to the environment. The company is a subsidiary of the AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group, which one of the world’s foremost leaders in resource recovery and energy conservation.
